Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The training provider has caused issues throughout my apprenticeship, with a lack of SQEP to deliver lectures and complete assessments. BAE Systems however have provided support and worked to solve these issues and provided support when needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy working on the next generation of technology and always looking to innovate and improve on existing designs. Now that the need for the training provider has reduced less problems are occurring which would be causing me issues during the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have built on my communication skills while working as an apprentice, speaking to new people and working with experienced engineers to complete tasks set for me to complete. My theoretical knowledge has grown massively thanks to the support from engineers at the company.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is structured with a set time in each department before applying to work in the department of your choice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support from the employer has been great with extra theorteical knowledge and also people to support me when completing tasks for the first time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Support has been poor, with 6 different assessors during the 2.5 years of the programme. Each asessor has wanted the portfolio to be different to the previous one meaning that everything has been a rush to reach the stage for an end point assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
The qualification had little impact on my performance at work. Because everything is secret and very niche at BAE Systems it would be tough to teach the theory at a local college.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there is an early careers council who send weekly invites to events etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Its a friendly environment to work interesting work and an exciting future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure to network and socialise with the people that you are working with to get the best out of the apprenticeship.
