Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I carry out trainee tasks, including proof reading, singings, document checks, some drafting, correspondence with clients and research tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, whilst it is very challenging, and I have to work hard, it is very enjoyable. The people are lovely, and the work is interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Coming from a non-law background means I have learnt a huge amount - both in terms of practice group, law, general skills. I have learnt IT skills, system management, how to read and understand complex documents, AI tools to help trainees and so much more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think it is well structured. The university programme fits in nicely with our work, and we have one set day a week to study. Whilst I am still in the early days, it feels like a great set up to help me achieve/ pass the SQE.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive lots of support. I have a supervisor, who I can go to for any problems. Other members of my team, and early talent team who are all very responsive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I haven't yet reached that point, but I believe we will get a lot of support. We have a supervisor, training sessions and a great app to help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think it definitely does, as we have moved into SQE prep. The business background, contract law, and general understanding the course provides is invaluable.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are sports teams, I have played football for the womens team, but there are many other sports. There are networking events, regular team socials, and trainee/ apprentice drinks too!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CMS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a great environment, very supportive, but also hard working. Is a great balance between really getting your head down, and motivation to work really hard, whilst being an enjoyable, welcoming environment!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CMS?
Be yourself, and be confident in yourself. It is not a scary place, and everyone wants you to succeed.
