Marketing Intern Review

As a marketing intern my day to day roles varied significantly. I had a few key responsibilities which included over-seeing supply forecasting for products and samples across our key retailers as well as managing product launches however my day to day roles varied significantly. This variation is something I really appreciated as a marketing intern, throughout the year I had a lot of contact with national account managers, members of the digital team abs the medical team.

I was given a lot more responsibility than I first anticipated. Although there were certainly times in whcih I struggled my manager was extremely supportive. My manager also ensured we had regular meetings in whcih she could offer me guidance. As I grew more comfortable in the role I was able to take on more projects, working more efficiently and getting responsibilities.

My management skills have significant improved over the year. The responsibilities given to me meant that I had to ensure I was always being pro active. Because of these responsibilities I also developed my communication skills as I worked with a range of people on a day to day basis. On a smaller scale my presentation skills have also realy improved, L’Oréal give access to some amazing teaining programmes which I would recommend everyone take advantage of.

I received a lot of support. I never felt that I had no one to speak to. My manager was always extremely supportive and due to the fact that there were so many other interns, we were able to support each other. Everyone I worked with was also extremely supportive, people realise there is a very good chance this is your first “real” job and so are always happy to help.

Very good atmosphere, due to the number of interns, there was always something going on. Loreal as a company is also very good at hosting events which are almost always expensed. It is a very young company and so you will never be short of people to go on a night out with!

I very much enjoyed my placement. Although there were definitely some challenging moments the experience I have gained has been invaluable. If I ever felt overwhelmed there were always people to support me and the large network of interns meant I never felt lonely. The skills and experience I have picked up over the year is something I will remember for years to come.
