Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a Systems Analyst so my role involves investigating and resolving client issues on our investment platform such as making sure no errors are showing up on the dashboard to stop a client investing etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do enjoy my programme quite a lot and do find the workload challenging to manage sometimes but always feel that it's better to have a lot of work on rather than not much at all. I feel like always stepping up to the challenge has caused me to grow significantly both in my career so far and as a person as it requires a lot of discipline.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a huge amount of new skills in this role and have also greatly developed my existing soft skills such as communication and teamwork. The main hard skills I have developed have been in using the bank's technical systems to investigate issues clients may be having on the dashboard such as querying the database to find mismatched tables.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say that my programme is very well structured in terms of module dates, assignment due dates, and workshop timings. We have a short 2 week break in between terms whilst assignments are being marked and get sent our workshop timetables with plenty of notice and can change our workshop dates if we are unavailable on specific days.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive quite a lot of support from my employer in terms of apprenticeship and uni work. I have a dedicated day each week to focus solely on my apprenticeship work and attend my workshop and then can also ask for extra time toward the end of the module when my assignments are due just to get a bit of extra time to work on them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I also receive quite a lot of support from QA. I think myself and all the other learners have a dedicated coach who is always assessing our progress throughout the course and makes sure that we don't fall behind on specific activities. There are also different resources on QA's platform to help with specific things related to the actual university side of things such as essay writing and quick reading guides.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think that my qualification allows me to better understand the impact of technology in the workplace and especially in a business context and how it can be leveraged to increase the organisation's efficiency as a whole and to increase shareholder value.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Not much activities outside of work except for maybe getting drinks after work or something similar.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a great organisation to work at and is very supportive of it's employees. Furthermore, I do feel quite safe in this role and also think that the bank offers a variety of career progression options to climb the corporate ladder, especially as an apprentice as the career journey can be quite scary when first starting out.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Keep an open mind and a growth mindset and understand that you can always learn how to do specific things you never thought were possible for yourself. Try to constantly step up to the challenge but also make sure to take regular breaks and you will see massive growth and development for yourself both in your career and personally.
