Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Every day can consist of different tasks, these are all related to engine building, repairing and overhauling parts. There are a wide range of engines that we working. Once a week, I have a college release day where we carry out a academic learning. As part of the apprenticeship I also move round to different areas.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the course that I am learning as it involves working on engines, learning new things all the time and being able to carry out tasks by myself. Before starting, I would always work/tinker with engines therefore I thought the job would be perfect, and I have not regretted it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting I have learnt many new skills. All of these include repairing engines, what parts require being removed in order to fix the issue, how engines work and how the components work with each other. Its also given me confidence to try different jobs and tasks outside of work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The course is well structured and organised, as in the first year we was more college based which helped us learn all new skills before we started spending more time at work. Now we have learnt a lot of new skills we are on day release therefore we can spend more time learning the products at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We are always offered support from our employer and also from other colleagues within the building, whether it be we need an office to spend some time doing college work, or we need help doing college work we are given guidance on what we should write and how the company policy works with that topic. We are also given regular 1:1s
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Our training provider is always providing support for our qualification, this includes have a review every couple of months, going through what we should expect when working towards our End Point Assessment, what we can do to help us carry out the tasks required, we are also told to ask if we are ever stuck on some course work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe that the skills we have learnt during our college time, help me to feel more confident trying different jobs at work, and think about the task I am doing, if I am struggling to try think about it different to help solve the problem. It also helps when it comes to written things.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Within our workplace there are not currently any extra curricular activities. However, sometimes some of us in the workshop will get together and do something, like going out for a meal, etc. Sometimes, during work time, there will be an event where all the placement students will get together and have lunch and talk about our roles, etc.
