Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
my normal work day starts at 8:30 and consists of me working on a section of the open source project DPDK that I contribute to called new DTS (DPDK Test Suite), attending uni workshops, working on uni assignments, attending meetings, and focusing on developing my skills and abilities as a software engineer. My work day usually finishes around 5:00 but sometimes I finish later if I'm in the middle of somthing.
After work I attend clubs and games that are ran by others at arm such as playing in Blood of the Clock tower games and playing and DMing DnD games.
As a member of the Apprentice social committee I also aid in the planning of activities for the other apprentices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Working with the other arm apprentices and getting to know and learning more about them is enjoyable as we're all doing the same or similar programmes, meeting the other apprentices from the other offices at the yearly apprentice event, and going into work and knowing that I'm likely to learn or improve my skills is a enjoyable part of the progamme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've increased my python skills.
Learnt how to work within a team.
Learnt how to use Linux in a day-to-day situation.
How to work with the open source community.
Learnt how to work within a company.
What skills go into being a software engineer in a world where technology is constantly changing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
From arm the programme is well structured however the programme that our uni provides us isn't the best as it covers areas that we aren't likely to use for a long time such as project management, and they don't cover areas such as Operating systems, CPU Architecures, any C or C++, and other areas of software engineering and computer science that a software engineer who went through uni normally would know requireing us to make up for our Uni's short comings in our spare time or at work durring our uni hours, but as someone who finds exams very hadr the lack of the ones that you would find in your A-levels and GCSE's are nice as it's all course work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I recive a lot of support from Arm, when I started I was matched with a industrial tutor who is another engineer at arm who helps me to learn and supports me throughout the programme, my degree and in the early stages of my career durring our every other week meetings where we most of time we talk about my work and uni course and assignments where they help me indentify areas for me to improve in my assignments before I subbmit them to the uni for marking but sometimes we just chat about nerdy topics or mundaine every day bits, I also recieve aid from my team in them giving me the time that I need to complete my uni work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have every 6 weeks progress check in meetings with my acidemic tutor who supports and aids me in the completion of my uni work until I graduate. I've also got a plan in place with the uni for them to aid me in relation to my neurodiversity that factors out of my control have impacted before.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that it's been going ok as compared to what I got in A-levels where I only just passed in my uni work I've been averaging around 60% for my assignment where as in Primary, and secondary school I would've been lucky to pass so I feel that it's going well at the moment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I participate in Blood on the clock tower games.
I play DnD with a group of collegues on a wednesday
I DM DnD for a group of collegues on a wednesday
I am a member of the apprentice social committee helping to plan events for the other arm apprentices across the UK.
I attend team socials when they occur.
