Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a business support coordinator, working internally for Computacenter. My day-to-day role involves following processes and guiding projects through the implementation phase called sourcing. There is a lot of manual admin, but I'm able to oversee many departments within the company and work alongside them to onboard partners/suppliers for their required needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my apprenticeship since I started. Before starting at Computacenter, I struggled to see a career path and didn't have much hope for what I wanted to do, however since joining, there is so much opportunity that it encourages me to thrive throughout my 18 month programme.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My business administration course has allowed me to build on the knowledge I developed at A-level, however I am able to implement this into my day-to-day role. For example, I have learnt the importance of processes, which has allowed me to share with my manager what we could do to streamline and make our work more efficient.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I am in large class of apprentices, and have found the structure of our work to align well with our job roles. Unfortunately in my direct team I am the only apprentice, but am lucky to have a manager who has trained many apprentices before, and will actively look for work that can support my apprentice. The structure of the apprentice provider, allows me to plan and organise my workload well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I am very fortunate to have a colleague who has trained apprentices and is currently studying herself for a Sourcing/Procurement qualification. We have found that my apprenticeship work and hers aligns, and we offer support for each other. The wider team is undergoing management changes, so finding support in the wider team can be difficult.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My apprentice trainer is hands on and will always answer any 'silly question' I may have. She is supportive and guides me in my learning, especially when I overcomplicate it for myself.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The questions asked throughout my apprenticeship relate to my job role and allow me to ask questions to my team about how it can help progress my career at Computacenter.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have recently joined a book club, which is held on Teams, with departments all across the business. The cohort of apprentices have calls, where we can communicate and catch-up!

Why?
I believe Computacenter cares about their employees and developing future careers. I have already recommended it to two friends, one looking for an apprentice and someone looking for a placement year.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
Don't give up looking for an apprenticeship that suits you. They are out there!
