Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My Apprenticeship is rotational and I currently sit in Learning and Development in HR where I am responsible for designing videos and instructional portals to aid upskilling for employees within BT Business and BT Group.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme and feel as though I have a good balance between personal and professional learning, as well as being challenged and pushed out my comfort zone.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a lot of design skills, including instructional design, design and delivery and graphic design. I have also been exposed to a range of project management techniques and gained a wide range of interpersonal and communication skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well structured and it deadlines are clear. My only complaint would be the lack of clarity around university when I first joined the apprenticeship, and a lack of clarity around future rotations in the Business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots of support, there are always people willing to help in the team and I have regular catch up's with my boss and an older apprentice ('buddy') who offer support and ensure I can handle the workload.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
A good amount of support, lots of resources are provided and there are monthly workshops, however it can be difficult due to the nature of the apprenticeship being distanced learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Quite well, some modules and topics have aided me more than others, but there are definitely many transferrable skills and lots of knowledge gained that I can use in the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes many. I am currently apprentice lead for our future careers network in Business, as well as an outreach and attraction representative. There are also regular social events on Thursdays and much more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great company to work for where there is lots of opportunity to get involved and progress. They are also very flexible and help to provide a good work-life balance.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
To use your skills to your advantage and show how you can be an asset to the company. Show adaptability and that you are a professional, hard working person.
