Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I do telecoms design engineering - i complete lots of 2D and 3D design on IT projects like data centres. Day-to-day i spend my time working with my team to complete deliverables to large companies

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my job. I find it challenging and supportive. Always new things to learn and discover. I do not enjoy my course however. It is a very broad course and only vaguely covers telecoms. It is heavily geared towards other parts of the course that i have no interest in and provide me with nothing but extra work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt to use software like Revit and AutoCAD and developed existing skills in general admin tasks and in coding.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

There isnt a whole lot of structure in general its quite free flow. I enjoy it that way most of the time. All of my module leaders are usually cover teachers and my course leader has completely left. Its still early days of establishing what the course is.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I got lots of support in my early years but no i am a lot more settled and experience there is less need to however i am happy to say i think the support would be there if needed

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My university do not really contact me at all. I work alone on the assignments and do not interact with course leaders outside of the classroom

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think my role and my qualification differ a lot. whilst that wasnt the inital intention, its the way things have gone that my role has changed and my course does not adapt to that.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are plenty of social activities made available in the office and outside the office. Its not something a large amount of people attend but i think thats more specific to my team as ive heard others say they are always out with office friends
