Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work as a HR Graduate where I complete 4 6-month rotations in different areas of HR. So far I believe I will complete rotations in Talent and Learning, People Analytics and HR Business Partnering. I support on HR projects during these rotations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the early careers programme as part of my role. The team are brilliant; they are super supportive and host valuable training sessions throughout the year which are useful for helping us succeed in our roles. I also enjoy doing an apprenticeship, learning more about HR and applying learnings to my work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Time management and organisation with my apprenticeship and working, business acumen, communication with different stakeholders, agile thinking, change management and teamwork/collaboration.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It's very well organised. We were informed of all the Early Careers events we would have when we started and have regular check-ins with the Early Careers team on how our apprenticeships are going. My HR rotations are well thought out and planned based on upcoming projects so I am getting involved in valuable work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive lots of support from the Early Careers team, including weekly drop-in opportunities and they always follow-up if I flag a concern about anything. I also receive support and time to talk through any concerns with my manager if I highlight something concerning me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My skills coach through my apprenticeship provider has been very helpful. They respond to my emails when I have questions about assignments or concerns, and I have a review or check-in call every couple of months which is useful to review my progress, deadlines and quality of my work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think learning more about HR, as someone without a thorough understanding of the function, has been useful as I start to work in the area and learn on-the-job. I have found that some of the apprenticeship topics and assignments aren't as aligned to my work as I have been working in a centre of excellence, whereas my apprenticeship topics have focused on more generalist HR roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are lots of opportunities through the Early Careers team and community, such as the Early Careers Social Committee.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Experian to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Experian has a lovely feel to the company. Everyone is super friendly and always willing to help one another. My work has shown me that the company really care about developing their employees through many learning, training and career development opportunities. The Early Careers programme and community are particularly warm, supportive and inclusive, and a network outside of your specific area to connect with and turn to for advice or to test ideas with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Experian?
Research the company and try to understand what Experian do and how, as it can be quite complicated. Also speak to as many people as you can from Experian before, as they will sell you on the company and it's great having a familiar face when you start.
