Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Accountable for reporting the programme overview including progress against KPI's, forecasting and phasing of deliverables, ownership of actions and risk logs, and managing the weekly performance meetings with key stakeholders. Responsible for producing the weekly Programme report and distributing to directors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The course aligns with my job so it is teaching me new skils, developing existing skills and acting as a refresher for existing skills i've not used for a while or had forgotten!! Working in a cohort is great as you can share learnings or problems with others. The downside is that the course workload is a lot to fit into your day job

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Developed my "defining the problem", learned measuring using Lean 6 Sigma methodology, using various tools such as Fishbone, A3, measuring (DMAIC), some of these were new to me

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured with clearly defined topics, timescales and templates. The trainers are on hand should you need support, and the training agency are very experienced in training these courses. The trainers and support staff are excellent.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been great; my manager proposed this course to me and has fully supported me, when my manager changed, the new one fully supported the development. My company has a culture of learning and development, and the structure, qualifications, methodologies are fully integrated into working practices. Regular support and mentoring is available from training specialists within our company. Career development is fully supported, with opportunities to progress throughout the organisation.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There are regular cohort learning days, regular one to one reviews with the trainer, and the trainers are always available to discuss our projects, should the need arise. The training organisation are also flexible when it comes to personal challenges, and so illness, annual leave, personal issues, compassionate leave etc are always dealt with sympathetically and in a professional manner.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It's given me a structure and standard methodology to work through projects. The qualifications aligns with my job so i'm putting the training into my day to day activities
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various networking events, some for professional development (apprentices and graduate apprenticeships, future leaders), there's social clubs, support networks, some locally supported, some regionally supported

Why?
There are opportunities for career development, flexible working arrangements, various career directions such as customer service, engineering, management, finance, legal. The company have a great support network for employees. Opportunities are there for career progression if you want it. Customers are at the core of what we do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON UK?
Learn about the company strategy, having customers at the heart of what we do, net zero, behaviours and competencies. There are many different areas to look at, whether it's energy supply, green solutions for domestic households, community insulation and heating schemes, assisting vulnerable customers, SME, large scale heat networks.
