My role involves working in highly secure air-gapped environments with the automation of deploying infrastructure, performing upgrades, and improving the functionality of systems.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme thoroughly, it is fulfilling and I am on great terms with my team, which has enabled me to feel welcomed and valued in my day-to-day work whilst also supporting my expanding life as a young entry into the IT industry.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt a lot of how to use various software, including new operating systems, automation wrappers, scripting, and management utilities for enterprise networks.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There have been a variety of faults from our training provider that we have constantly grappled and fought to make change for. Though we have often been advertised support by BT throughout this, our complaints often go without action, or have had dropping the trainer alluded to, which is unideal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support with travel expenses for customer support visits, with the opportunities for further training, and with the financial support of a steady income in an otherwise very challenging economy.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Though there are individuals within the training provider that go above and beyond to help us with our assignments, feedback, and course as a whole, these are exceptions provided by particular individuals. We have equally had many unhelpful feedback bits, inadequate or harsh behaviours by professors, and incredibly sluggish resolutions (multi-year) to issues flagged.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has provided me a lot of context of the wider industry and technologies that I don't work with very often in my environment, as well as some of the context of how industry standards work for documentation and processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I attend my workplace gym daily and there are a slough of additional clubs I could attend on-site if I felt like it for fitness. There are not many extra-curricular activities outside of this. There are many workplace events, both social and professional, however, for networking purposes and educational purposes.

Why?
They have provided me with a comfortable work environment, an excellent financial income, and a sense of fulfilment in my work environment, as well as providing me with an insight into an industry I never thought I would be able to see, which has excited and delighted me since I began.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Show your enthusiasm, interest, and willingness to learn above all else. It is far better for the company to have an open and excited mind who is willing to devote the effort to learning what the company needs, rather than someone who might think they already know 'all they need'.
