Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work with districts across Scotland to support capability and continuous improvement. I monitor training and procure appropriate learning. I also analyse data to provide updates to senior leaders on the impact of learning across Scotland.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying my apprenticeship as it is very relatable with my role and I have good support from my coach

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I am developing my skills in project management and using more complex excel and power point presentations to support my work

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well structured - I have a dashboard where I can clearly see my progress and tasks I have submitted and what is outstanding. I am also able to send my coach messages easily and have monthly meetings booked in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is supportive I am able to take time out to work on my apprenticeship and we discuss my progress at 121s
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Good support - monthly meetings and able to message via my online portal when I have a query and they get back to me usually quickly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I find that this qualification support my role as I am able to explore more options in doing my work to the best of my ability and discussing different ways of getting outputs with my coach
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We hold regular social events such as bowling, quiz nights and nights out. I am also a member of Hassra a national club that has competitions, discounts and events.

Why?
Good working hours and flexible working. Good access to support - counselling, physiotherapy, occupational health etc. Meet a variety of different people that can become life long friends
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
There are so many different roles available - you may go into one area of the business but don't worry that you will never be able to move as there are lots of opportunities that come up.
