Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Ensuring data shares are compliant and meet the regulations. Ensuring governance documents are up to date. Liaising with stakeholders to assess the risk within the business and advising seniors and leaders of risks and what we are doing to mitigate them.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love learning and the program has been amazing. This course has enabled to get involved with projects to increase my skills at work and go along side the theoretical side of my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes my course is Senior Leadership. I have developed my leadership skills, I am able to see the bigger picture of the organisation. I have developed financial management as well learnt more about strategy.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very structured, each module can be linked directly to my work. I have learnt about other areas of the business.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer, my line manager works with my course tutor to find me opportunities to put my learning into practice. My employer also pays my expenses when I attend work shops and other learning events.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider, we have 8 weekly reviews to discuss things in person. I receive detailed feedback about my progress and my apprenticeship tutor is always available to help me if needed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My aim was to FastTrack my career. I have already been promoted within the first 6 months of the course. My leadership has improved massively. I'm a huge advocate for the apprenticeship, it has really helped me to get on and give me the skills needed to progress.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, the department takes well being seriously, at team level activities are organised. DWP has affiliate providers where civil servants can get involved in sports teams. I am encouraged to attend professional networking events such as Civil Service Live.

I can be myself in this role. I have been given the opportunity to develop my learning and skills. I love coming to work. It's a place where people from all backgrounds are accepted and encouraged to grow.
