Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Procurement professional working on sourcing software, resources and professional services for the Digital team within DWP.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the content of my apprenticeship, it's really useful in my day-to-day job. The CIPS examinations though are appalling, not reflecting the content or bring any value to the course itself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Both: I had no previous experience in the commercial function, so everything about my role has been learning new skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised, workshops covering the material, plenty of resources available to prepare a=for the exam or to do further reading to enhance my knowledge.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My line manager has been absolutely amazing and offered endless support and guidance.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The workshops organised, revision materials and videos are very useful. It could only be improved if mock exam would have been available, closer to what the actual CIPS exams are like.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think it's really useful and it enhances my training and support received in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yeas, plenty of working groups, events, charitable work etc

Would you recommend Department for Work and Pensions to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it's a great place to work, plenty of development opportunities and great work-life balance.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
Be open to change, but also be mindful that this is a government department, so innovation will need to go through several hoops to implement!
