Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I prepare tax computations for companies and LLPs. More recently, this has also included providing other tax-related services such as tax due diligence of acquisition targets, preparing transfer pricing reports, and providing tax advice to clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I've very much enjoyed the programme. It has helped that I was joined by other like-minded people who have made the experience very welcoming.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've developed a significant knowledge of my subject area as well as improving interpersonal and management skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is organised in that we begin with relatively simple work, and build up over the course of the programme as our knowledge improves.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I've received sufficient support from my employer to work out key areas to focus on, as well as them being understanding during periods of high stress due to exams.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
First Intuition college has been extremely helpful, mainly due to the revision college courses which are outstanding on the most part. However, at times this has been dependent on the tutor we have had. I have not utilised any other support FI may offer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The ACA helps me understand the role the accountants and auditors do and has given me a better understanding of journals etc. which has allowed me to find information more quickly and work out why certain expenses are recognised and what they relate to. The tax side wasn't very useful as a tax specialist, particularly as I was exempt from BPT as I sat CTA as well. There are some exams that were useless to my role, such as MI, BTF, FM, BST, SBM and Case Study.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty of sports teams (i.e. football, cricket, netball) that lots of people get involved with. There are also regular social activities within the team and firmwide. Because you are in an intake of other trainees, there ends up being a lot of informal extra-curricular activities too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Buzzacott to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very friendly and welcoming environment which is perfect for training towards a qualification such as ACA or CTA.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Buzzacott?
Be relaxed in the interview but come with an understanding that there is a lot of work involved to pass each exam.
