Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Manging a small portfolio of non-complex cases, such as simple onshore and offshore disclosures. Drafting letters, emails, reports, and memorandums. Calling HMRC helplines and officers to negotiate deadlines and provide updates. Calling clients to discuss their position.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it a lot. Every day is different, every client is different, and just when I think I know it all, I learn something new.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Developed my confidence both in a written and speaking sense, as well as developed my writing skills. I have also developed my time management as I have had to consider not just my time needed, but of those working around me, and my client's time.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think it is well structured, and the knowledge I gain from my job has greatly assisted me in my studies (as well as vice versa).
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is always support in our team and you never feel like yo are stuck by yourself. From a tuition point of view, we are given enough leave to help us study, and we are always supported throughout exams.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
At Tolley, there was a lot of support both online and in person. I have, however, recently moved providers for my CTA as there were better resources offered elsewhere. This provider is essentially the same, and I continue to feel supported.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives me all the basic and technical tax knowledge I need and can apply to my clients' situations. As I work in an area where any sort of tax/individual/entity can be a client, anything taught to me by my training provider can be relevant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are plenty, I know a lot of people are part of the netball team here. There are also a lot of internal Networks to make you feel really included, and they also bring awareness to topics that you may have never really considered. There are so many social events happening, and plenty of trainee events which are always fun. We have our own team socials too (which I now organise) which are great.

Yes
Why?
It's a great opportunity to learn, develop, have fun, and to just kick start you career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Buzzacott?
Be confident and be open to all opportunities. Attend as many events as you can and want to, and get to know people outside your team too! It really helps both from a social aspect, and from a work aspect where you may be able to refer clients to each other.
