Daily tasks include: completing tax computations, drafting letters/memorandums/reports, updating and managing clients and HMRC.
Daily interactions internally include: all members of the Tax Investigations team (regardless of seniority) and members of other teams of Buzzacott where applicable.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really do enjoy the day job as no two days are the same and there is a wide variety of task and responsibilities.
The exam side is tough (especially having to balance with a full-time job) but I know they will be worth it once completed and I do feel extremely well supported by Buzzacott.

Developed my time management skills as have to balance a client portfolio.
Developed my communication skills as have to realise and appreciate that the 'one size fits all' approach does not work - different clients have different needs.
Appreciated that have to take ownership at all times.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Programme is extremely well organised and the team lead has been transparent about how it works from the start and how it works with my internal progress here.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support, from my team lead to my colleagues in the HR team. They are very understanding and supportive.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There are facilities from the provider there but from my experience, I find it to be a case of them waiting for you to come to them rather than them being proactive. They do provide a plethora of materials.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Well it feels it goes without saying, without any tax knowledge you wouldn't be able to do the day job so the qualifications are essential for this. Outside of tax knowledge, there are less skills that are transferable from the qualification to the day job - they do not teach you how to manage an upset client or negotiate with HMRC.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes.
Sport wise I know there is: football, run club, netball and cricket.
Professional networking events there is a large number of different staff networks (including but not exclusive to: Christian Network, Jewish Network, Parents & Carers Network and Women's Network).

Why?
I have felt nothing but supported since I started here.
There is a lot of transparency which I think is invaluable as it means you always have a clear understanding of where you are and what you need to do/focus on to progress.
Lastly, apprentices/trainees take a large portion of Buzzacott's employees so the firm puts a lot of time into supporting them as they understand that apprentices/trainees are the future.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Buzzacott?
Spend time on reviewing the specific webpage of the team/role you are applying for (a lot of them have sections from previous apprentices/trainees detailing their experience).
