Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a day-to-day basis, I am involved in the audits of Local government authorities and NHS trusts. I undertake substantive procedures on different areas on the file including income and expenditure, cash flow and leases.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, the team that i'm in and the layout of exams. I have always felt supported by my team with everything.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - since starting as a school leaver, with no prior background in accounting, I have been fully emersed in the audit world. Having attended training programmes run by my employer to improve our technical knowledge on things like IFRS,IAS standards and how to use them alongside audit work. Also inter-personal skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel as though the programme is well organised, with all training, exams and various other dates mapped out for me, for the whole 4 year duration of my programme. However, I feel like the early careers team are reluctant to offer support to some people that do not find it as easy to follow.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I receive a lot of support from my immediate team e.g line manager, buddys etc... in all aspects of my job e.g exams, apprenticeship admin and the technical side of work. However early careers do not offer good support for a lot of people regarding exams and wellbeing
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots - my training provider is BPP, they provide all courses, learning resources e.g coursebook and question bank. The tutors are happy to help us leading upto the exam and even offer support once their paid work has finished.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel as though without my qualifications, I would not be able to understand a lot of the things that I do on a day to day basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, I am involved in the aspire committee, which allows a small number of selected individuals to collectively discuss issues and drive change. We meet every 6 weeks, with quarterly in person meetings with the Head of audit in the UK. There are also various social events, e.g professional balls.
