Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves verifying financial information to a material figure. This means engaging with clients to understand the business and their process and testing the financial figures to ensure accuracy. My day can involve a lot of project management as I have taken on a more senior roles with my clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the view of development as it is very focused about the progression from a junior role to a senior role. Thus there is a focus on developing these skills. The fact that you gain a qualification at the end of it and the study that is given is very helpful. The exams are quite set however, it means you progress through the qualification quickly as long as you are passing the exams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills particularly around accounting and understanding the financial statements. This meant that I have become much more knowledgeable and my existing skills have been bolstered especially around communication due to communicating with clients. Then also my project management skills as I have started to senior clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is well organised when you start at the firm you are given your exam pathway and as long as you stick to passing the exams this doesn't change therefore, you can plan appropriately your exams around holidays etc. Furthermore, the managers make a special effort when starting to ensure you have work and then also our work is set for the next year so you are always busy with client work therefore, aiding your learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
You receive a lot of support through your line manager and your allocated buddy. This support is helpful as they have gone through the experience of studying and working. Furthermore, you have a dedicated team that can help with any exam queries or changing of time booked to clients. This helps ease any worries you may have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider has a dedicated email set up for just Forvis Mazars meaning that if you need to change college days or access around you have quick support. Furthermore, the college is very good and the tutors are extremely helpful answering emails and queries around the learning, thus you can feel supported.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification has aided my understanding of accounting and has helped understand complex theories and has helped me understand why we do testing on the financial accounts. Plus as I want to progress this can only be done with the qualification therefore, it is key it is obtained.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have a social sec team within the team I have joined this means that socials are organised each month so that we can engage with the team and unwind whilst also building good working relationships and friendships. These are not only drinking socials but activities etc. We also have many other societies around sports, faith, social issues etc.

Would you recommend Forvis Mazars to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think you can have a good work life balance depending what team you are in. The exam pathways are linear so you can plan your life accordingly around it. I have made really great friends and the team is very social and understanding of everyone's different personalities.
