Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
IT Scheme rotates every 8 months. Each role is different and spread across the business. My current day to day is project management within Cyber Security.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my role, university work is manageable, and the apprenticeship scheme has official events and social events going on each month.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
As someone who started at 18 I've developed a high skillset at AZ, and continued to build my existing skill set. Rotating around the business ensures I get an even wider skillset that will put me into a good position for jobs after my scheme ends.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Rotations were well structured until redundancies early 2024. Since then there's been a downward trend in rotation on offer. The actual scheme is well structured during the induction and following trainings.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
University is structured well. Modules are every 6 weeks with an assignment due Week 3, 6, & 8. We have 6 break weeks that are structured to 2 at Christmas, 2 at Easter, and 2 in the Summer. 2 bootcamps are ran per year and that requires a week in London and a week virtual after.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Pushed to apply workplace learning to university assignments, and uni to the workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is an apprentice committee who run events throughout the year, a social society group, & a mental health and wellbeing committee.
AZ also has employee resource groups on offer.
