Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am currently a customer assistant within the stores working towards becoming a shift manager. My daily tasks include, working stock, being on the tills and carrying out the daily tasks to help the store run smoothly. I interact with customers and help with any queries or questions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed my time at Lidl so far, it has allowed me to learn new skills in a new environment and get an overall idea of the runnings of the store. Studying for my degree at the same time is exciting and allows me to take my learning into work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many new skills from my time with Lidl so far, these include key communication and teamwork skills and ensuring I am always communicating with my team and building new relationships. I have developed my problem solving skills through watching how managers deal with different situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is structured really well with clear developments of when progressions happen. I have had great support from the management team in my store alongside the head of training in my region. I have had continuous progress reviews to ensure I am on track and receiving continuous feedback which is great.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support I receive is great the management team in store are all really helpful especially my store manager with helping me progress and further my knowledge. My head of training for my region is really helpful and we have regular progress reviews to ensure I am on track and this allows me to get feedback.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support from Kingston University is great, we have individual assigned mentors who are always and email away who support with any issues or confusion in any tasks. Our lecturer is really helpful and offers any support with any issues of understanding certain topics or any issues with assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think my qualification is very relevant to what I am doing in my role. I feel it will become more useful when working at a higher level due to the topics we learn being more suited knowledge to higher managers but I value this because that is exactly what I am working towards.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Not that I currently know of at the minute. I understand there is different charity events you can get involved in and you are always meeting new people whether this be different store managers or people from the RDC.
