Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Replying to emails, responding to design queries and finding this information out from the stakeholders within the airport. creation, and upkeep of excel sheets. Meetings with both the mace team, and the client side .
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the project I'm working on, and feel that my Mace team, and further team from other companies have really supported my development helping me learn lost of new things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My excel skills have really developed. I created the change management spreadsheet now used in my project. I also have learnt how to use power bi which id never heard of prior. I have learnt how to read drawings, and how to spot mistake's within.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
We have monthly Apprenticeship meet ups where we learn about things such as report writing, client engagement, H&S which is useful, and gives the cohort a chance to all meet up. However, I wouldn't say there's much actual structure to the programme when i compare it to other apprentices that I know. Many other companies have a set structure in place, to insure certain skills are achieved at each milestone, creating a set structure. This is something we don't have, resulting in similar roles doing a variety of different tasks. However, i understand this could be due to the nature of the industry, as each different project is never the same, so i guess this would be hard to implement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I work in the office with my line manager, so see him very often and speak to him about any queries when they arise. We have monthly organised meetings to track my progress, and assess what i want to do next.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
With the university being online, you get out what you put in. The support is there, and i arrange meetings with my tutor when i need any support, and she always helps me out. Obviously if you don't reach out, you wont get the support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
learning the theory has come in handy a couple of times. Its given me confidence when speaking to stakeholders about more specialist topics, as i have some awareness and knowledge. For example, i took part in a sustainability workshop for my project with the main contractor and designs team. Thanks to my studies, i had a breadth of knowledge about different sustainability assessment methods, what's required and how we can utilise them on our project.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, but I'm based on site, all of these activities run from the offices. I get invites, I just often don't go due to it adding distance to my journey home. Mace has many different networks, I attend the Northern events, Women in mace events.
