Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Marketing Intern for L'Oréal Paris helping the team with a wide variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to, data pulls, reporting, performance analysis, product artworks, merchandising, product send-outs and agency management.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement which was really great. Rather than making cups of tea, i was designing Bespoke Units that went in to stores across the UK. I was also relied heavily upon when it came on to data and reporting which brought a sense of importance. I was also the lead on many artwork projects, designing and amending packaging for many NPDs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt a wide variety of new skills. I have learnt how to use certain softwares and applications, such a Nielsen to pull data, TAG to create and amend artworks/packaging, Opera for asset management and many others like Excel, Teams and PowerPoint. I have also developed a lot of soft skills such as communication, confidence, presenting, and relationship management.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

As soon as I joined L'Oréal I got myself a mentor within the business, who constantly supported me throughout my placement. I could go to them with any issues, and they were super helpful. I would often organise meetings to get feedback on presentations or pieces of work, and then go away and amend based on this. My managers and team were supportive throughout.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. Learnt a lot, lead some major projects, met some amazing people, increased my business network and loved working in London!
