Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to support customers with their on premise and private cloud environments. Day to day this involves engaging with customers and understanding the challenges they face. My role also requires me to engage and speak with the vendors of the different technologies we sell.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme as it provides a strong blend of day to day experience in role as well as plenty of time for me to more formally learn. Having this balance enables me to gain sufficient understanding of the real life challenges and processes of the role whilst at the same time I am given time and space to learn.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes - Prior to my role I had very little understanding as to what a Data centre is or what the critical components of a platform. Since coming into role I have been taught of these core elements and what they do and how this aligns with the specific challenges our customers face.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is effectively well organised, with rotations across the business for the first 10 months of the programme. Following this we then enter guided role for 6 months under the supervision of more senior specialist and have the opportunity to learn from those with more experience than I.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have a buddy, mentor and coach all who provide me support with varying levels of experience they can leverage to enable me to be strong in my role. In addition I have monthly check ins with my boss and additional check ins with senior management.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have access to a training portal which in addition to this we have access to regular training sessions in which we are taught the fundamentals of IT and Sales training processes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I would say the qualification being provided to me gives me alternative insight into sales methodologies and training techniques.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, several. I am a member of the work running club, and there are frequent social events to attend on a weekly basis. We also have quarterly social event such a ice curling, sports day etc.

Why?
Computacenter offers really strong support to their sales graduates that I have not heard of elsewhere in the industry as a result I have access to some of the best subject matter experts and direct support and feedback from senior leadership, again something that is very unique.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
I would say be authentic to yourself, there can be a feeling of uncertainty in applying to a technology company if you are not a technical person. These skills and knowledge requirements will be taught to you. Rather it is the person you are, how you work and think that CC really look for.
