Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

For your role you move around looking at different manufacturing departments at this site. For example, I work currently as a Process Chemist but I have also done a warehouse role. My responsibility is manufacturing right quality at safe standards at a critical deadline. You are treated as a regular employee and once fully trained will have the same responsibilities as them. On a day to day my job is to process a pharmaceutical ingredient and to supply chain in a market-compliant manner, utilizing validated processes and equipment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot as it is an online college which makes it incredibly flexible and in the workplace you get to see so many different areas giving you many opportunities and a lot of experience.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed new skills during my brief time here. This apprenticeship has helped me come out my comfort zone and got me involved in volunteering activities. It has also helped developed me to be more proactive and work under my own initiative. I have also learnt new systems within the workplace and all tasks that I need to complete.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well structured. There is always volunteering opportunities and also a clear plan of the route you will follow and where it could take you. There is different apprentice groups which let apprentice organise events which helps you get involved and network a bit more.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much as I need. You are always working with someone so they can always help you if you get stuck and it is accessible and easy to contact your manager
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot I have monthly site visits from my tutor and also they have quick responses if i get stuck on any coursework
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There are a lot of extra-curricular activities and there are groups set up for all sorts of events.

Why?
It's a really good place to work. everyone is friendly and there is always someone there to help you, they also helped to make it a very relaxed first week to ease you into your new job which helps to make it a bit less nerve-wracking
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
Try to be open about yourself and what you enjoy etc and make a lot of effort in the application stage to help impress the employers
