The maintenance and development of control systems. Problem solving is one of the biggest parts of the job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy this program. It is a great way to get into the Industry and get a degree at the same time. Being involved in different types of tasks makes the job different and enjoyable every day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Communication and team work are one of the biggest skills you have to have for this role and has been one of the skills I have developed. Others include competency in new systems and networking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

This programme is well structured and provides learning in different areas to improve your understanding in the industry. Different placements will be provided so you can get experience in maintenance, electrical, coding etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

If support is required it will be provided by the company. If you are struggling with a part of your course or are not understanding a task, anyone will be happy to help you with it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university offer sessions with course leaders to help you with certain aspects that you do not understand. You will have a review with a skills couch a few times a year. They will make sure you are staying up to date with your course modules.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Certain modules that they cover are required to make the degree an engineering degree (i.e. Engineering Maths) and some are specifically related to your role at your workplace. As you progress in your degree you will start to understand more at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

When I started the apprenticeship, there was a number of events to get you to know the other apprentices starting that year. There is events throughout each month that you can attend that give you an insight into different aspects of the company and the area you work in.
