Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to support the Project Team in the delivery of Track Renewals for Transport for London. I do this by scheduling project meetings, cost reviews, completing governance documents, diagrams, taking part in site visits to review work progress.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my programme, at times it can be a lot. But I am well supported by Realise, TFL, my placement and line manager and understand what is expected of me. I feel confident in my ability to succeed.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a whole new skillset and built upon skills from my previous career in architecture. I have learnt how to manage stakeholders, do cost reporting, Ballast Track Renewals. The governance structures in place, how projects must align to strategic objectives. Far more than I ever expected for just 3 months in an apprenticeship.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My Programme is well organised and structured. I have planned reviews, 1-2-1's with Martine from Realise training and keep my Learning Journal Updated as I obtain knowledge. All lessons are in my work calender and I am given time for studying.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A great deal, they are very concerned with employees welfare and well-being. I have relaxed and learnt it's okay to ask. Something that I was afraid of prior to starting.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training Provider has been great, is reachable via email to answer my questions. Sessions with her are always reasuring and clear. I know what is expected and feel confident in doing it. I have been provided with a study pack and resource documents.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Whilst I haven't yet completed my qualification. The lessons and material so far has helped me in performing my duties by given me important knowledge that I've been able to apply in my workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, I am a member of the Mental Health team, run a Study club for my Cohort including social events, and attend networking events through the Project Management Community at TFL.

Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
Yes
Why?
TFL provides so much support and opportunity, It's such a vast company with its own ecosystem. I love wearing my TFL lanyard with pins and being a part of a wider community. Doing this apprenticeship is the best decision I could've made to find a career I'm happy in. After spending many years in toxic workplaces, it's a breathe of fresh air.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
Be your authentic self, don't be afraid to share your deep motivations. Take oppourtunities, Remember what it means as oppose to what it is.
