Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
We have 4 placements lasting 6 months each in terms of duration where we experience the world of work in a wide range of sectors. This includes liaising with different companies, networking with a variety of stakeholders, getting to know people, getting to know skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It's a really good beginning step to enter the world of work, as someone who came directly from high school, I saw a huge transition in how time management is so important, but I enjoy this programme a lot. Of course, nothing is perfect, there are hurdles, but the challenge and aim is to overcome them and keep going with a positive mindset.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, for sure! Definitely built on confidence, technical work (using systems etc.), communication and overall I have been able to build myself a professional portfolio.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
In terms of assignments, college days, and placements, I would say the programme is quite structured. A few things are delivered to us last minute in terms of our next roles etc however, on the college side of the programme, deliveries were perfect and upto a high standard.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Depending on which sector of employer, we do receive an adequate amount of help and support. Our line managers are here for us, our college leaders are hear for us, the apprentice team we don't regularly see but if issues are to arise, they do join in.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Training provider supply chain academy provides an amazing amount of help, always there to answer questions, give extra coaching and help us where necessary.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It has helped be build the foundation of my knowledge which I then go and practice in the real world of work, which I have found to be seemingly helpful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
No sport activities, professional networking events are there however, not a huge range for apprentices, rather it is after that.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a stable, educational and friendly environment where you will always find help and mentors if you just look! Key thing to remember is if you don't put the effort in, no one will do it for you, it's a matter of self work and striving to achieve.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
You might think it is a long winded process but these processes are what help you achieve your long term goals and plans, don't give up no matter how hard it gets, the grass is greener on the other side!!
