Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

We get the training and support needed to work with new tools and software. Currently working on mainframe, we have a mentor that guides us through different tasks.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am given enough time to focus on my studies and complete my coursework. I like the fact that I am studying towards my degree while I get work experience.
At work, apprentices are well guided and helped to adapt better into the working environment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed many new soft skills as well as technical skills. We have the opportunity to present our changes and improve our programming skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well organised, 20% of our work time is allocated for studies (1-2 days a week). Catch-up calls with the line manager as well as with the module leader. During half term we are working full 5 days a week.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Great support, we have a buddy and a mentor assigned to each apprentice. Special program called Early Careers which organises key events with professional speakers and activities to develop our professional skills.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As apprentices we are at university one day a week, so most of the time we communicate with tutors via email, they are quick to provide the support needed. Catch-up calls with the module leader.
For our coursework we have Formative and Summative Feedback helping us improve for the next coursework.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

We have the opportunity to learn from the experience and knowledge of our lead developers. Great support provided and we feel secure with every step we take to advance in our role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved, such as the Early Careers Social Committee - they organise social events at work and outside working hours for apprentices and graduates.
Great Place To Work (GPTW) - organises different volunteering events and fundraising, social events, and activities such as Bingo and more.

Yes

Why?

Experian is a great place to work, it makes sure all employees are feeling included and appreciated. Many activities planned to break the monotonous cycle of only working. We have the opportunity to give back to our community by volunteering up to 3 days a year during working hours.
The employees are always supportive and help each other.
