Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Currently working on Substation projects where I Manage subcontractors and their packages (orders, payments, change etc). Involved in project cost control and cost reporting. Assess Subcontractor Compensation Events (CEs) and CEs submitted to the client. Involved in the monthly cost and value reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have found the program enjoyable on the most part as I enjoy the combination of my job and study day at university. It is sometimes hard to balance this however I found good ways of getting the most out of my university studies and job role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Time Management l, where I have learned how to dedicate my time to tasks that are high priority and how to get them done in the most efficient manner. Communication, where I have learnt how to engage and speak with many different people across the industry.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is well structured and organised and the apprenticeship program within my workplace is good. However there are times that the university programme could be better organised
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a great level of support from people in more senior roles and those I work with day to day. For example I have a mentor and there are apprentice/trainee meetings on a regular basis with management.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The level of support is good and I realise that the majority of learning on my course has to be done independently due to the volume of work and students. The university provided proficient resources and lecturers are always available to provide support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel that about 50% of the content within the university course does not relate to my specific job role. For this reason it does not help me perform better within my role. I understand this is due to the specific nature of my current role however.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there events that are organised specifically for apprentices/ young people and opportunities for wellbeing and volunteering days.

Yes
Why?
Good environment to work in, good people and teams to work with. Opportunities are good to develop yourself and career
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Research the role you are applying for, have a basic knowledge of the company (you are not expected to know everything), have a understanding of what will be expected of you and what the interviewer will expect you to be aware of - current projects, previous projects and types of work the company does.
