Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I currently work in the procurement of structural steel, each day I place orders with suppliers in order to have the required material delivered to our sites on time and within schedule. This can be challenging but is always interesting and very fast paced.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I find enjoyment in my placement due to the fast paced environment and continuous workload. I work in a tightly knit team who work well together to cover all business needs in our procurement packages.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My communication and people skills have developed radically due to the hands on environment i am currently placed in. I have also become competent in managing a contract independently although i am not required to do so due to my label as an apprentice

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My current placement is fairly well structured but in other teams things are not so structured. In some other teams i know of apprentices who are not engaged with much and do not get much opportunity for growth.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
In my current placement i have excellent support from my manager but also from my colleagues around me. As mentioned above, my team is closely knit and work together very well. Bringing good performance and happy team members
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My training provider assigns my monthly unit at the beginning of each month, gives basic guidance and then at the end of the month this work is graded by the provider. Every few months we are given a formal review in order to confirm that we are meeting our targets.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
The SVQ that i am progressing through my provider is focused around the basics of development within a work place environment, such as communication and engagement. This SVQ definitely helps with my development but i would not say that it would affect my role much if i was without it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are many social gatherings outside of work time which allow our various teams to network and become friendly. This could ultimately increase performance as they are more willing to work together
