Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
if maintenance jobs are due such as weekly or monthly calibrations they will be planned into the day, or if we have bigger jobs due as well further in week we will plan and prepare for them such as if we need certain equipment, we may have to warm it up with can some time, or we may need to borrow equipment of expertise from other plants. We may need to plan around the plant such as RCD testing can shut down computers and important equipment so they need to be done out of hours. If there is a breakdown/ major issue with production then this will take priority before all of this
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
skills in electronics and mechanics, workplace skills such as planning and communicating with other departments to schedule work. Learning safety protocols in all aspects of engineering such as with electronics checking the equipment is dead before working on it and it has been correctly isolated, this could be by using fuse certificates. Or mechanically using the correct tools and being cautious of issues such as oil spills, sharps, using correct tools, working at height, not lone working

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It is not very well structured in terms of placements in particular departments, there are only so many mentors and quite a few apprentices, there is no scheduling for when we are due to move departments, it is hard as an apprentice to try and find a placement as we don't have the relevant contacts
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
there is a lot of support for studying such as extra time and shared resourced.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
there's a lot of support to help us achieve the qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some of the subjects are useful however some are only necessary to achieve the qualification
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
yes there is an apprentice committee and volunteering days, there are also social event with work departments
