Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently working in Security. Our purpose is to assess and mitigate risk to the bank by doing things such as reviewing policies, testing controls, assessing applications etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy my apprenticeship but felt it was a bit disorganized when I first joined, the workload was very minimal and was hard to build a structured routine. I think this was due to the lack of communication between LT / stakeholders.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I feel so far I have been able to develop existing skills, as coming from another bank / financial sector the applications and tools required etc. are relatively the same.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The previous 6 months month I found that my apprenticeship was not organized, I am currently rotating through different teams in the same pillar and the first two teams I felt as though there was no room for an apprentice due to minimal work and no communication between the leaders.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

One thing I cannot fault about NatWest is you can tell they really care and support their employees wellbeing, whether this is direct from a line manager or your colleagues, I always feel supported and can always speak up.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider has been excellent right from the beginning, she is a great advocate for me as I had a difficult start due to the poor work load and she really advocated for me. She is always free when I feel I need support and accommodates well to my needs.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Very well, I feel the qualification aligns perfectly for my apprenticeship and also aligns with my future career goals.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is always something going in which I find really positive for a work environment. I love how there is regular hub days, opportunities to volunteer with other colleagues etc. My team also do a payday dinner which I feel is great for networking.

Why?
I feel as an apprentice for NatWest it is a great starting point for your career, there is great opportunities to network and be able to learn while also being able to work. The business values its employees and customers, a lot of businesses can say this but with NatWest you can definitely feel this.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
When you can, always look for networking opportunities such as waiting in line for a coffee, in a lift etc. as this is what really starts to build your face into the business. Another thing, to always advocate for yourself, if something doesn't feel right, speak up. Someone will always be there to listen.
