Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an administrator of the GMP systems used within the QA/QC department, building the content within these systems and problem solving issues raised by internal QC customers as well as carrying out quality assurance duties for internal/external QA customers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme and all of the opportunities I have gotten to upskill within the company. The responsibility I have been given in leading projects has really helped me thrive in my role.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned new change management and leadership skills, as well as learning about the GMP processes surrounding systems used in the QA/QC area. I have also taken the opportunity to work in a GMP QC Laboratory during a short rotation to increase my development.

There is a clear development path set out for me and I am given adequate time off work for studying for my degree, as well as support in my studies.

I receive lots of support during work for development to progress my career, and I am given support in my studying through time off work.

It gives me a context that leads to a greater understanding when setting up the chromatography data systems and building the methods into the electronic lab notebooks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are plenty of networking opportunities between apprentices and further networking events that are company wide. There are opportunities to play sports with colleagues such as 5-a-side on the on-site astro-turf etc. as well as social events like the end of year celebrations at the Manchester GMEX Convention Centre.

There are plenty of opportunities of for career progression and personal development, and you are well supported whilst doing this. The people are great and the work is extremely fulfilling.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
Let your personality shine through on your application. AZ are looking not only for future leaders in industry, but people who are personable and work well in a team. There is a real focus on this. It is hard work, but the potential for progression and development is endless.
