Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
You go to university during term time and during the summer is when you do the placement. This means that for most of the year you are focussing on school with a few drop in sessions during the year. Day to day work can differ depending on what lines of service you choose and this can be more technical like coding, to more business oriented.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'm really enjoying the program, I've always known I've wanted to go to university and it is an added bonus that I get to be paid for it. Also enjoying the socials throughout the year and am so excited to start working in the summer and to get stuck into the corporate world.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Definitely learnt a lot of new coding skills whilst at university and developed communication skills whilst going to work events where you can socialise and network. Although I haven't been on a placement yet, I am hoping to develop more skills when I join and have high hopes just from talking to others on the course.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think the programme is pretty well structured as they leave us alone during semester time except for a few check ins which helps us ask questions and feel involved. They are there from the start, with a meeting when term starts and explaining the structure of the course. The summer placements are also structured quite nicely as they ask for your preferences on which line of service you would like to join.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
They are there to support you whenever you ask, via emails and also through university tutors. They also provide socials and have termly drop ins with you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a lot of support from the university of Leeds. There are a lot of lecturers and tutors there who help answer any questions and there are a lot of lectures to teach you everything you need for the content. Some modules give you feedback, but not always, but they can support you in other ways.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Definitely think the degree helps me perform better in my role. Learning some more technical skills like coding will definitely help during placements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a few social activities you can get involved with during the year. Some are more networking and meeting people on the same course as you, or those in older years for you to ask questions and also have fun. There is also the Christmas ball, and once you join in the summer, there are still some networking and social events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is such a good opportunity and course. You get paid to go to university and to work for 3 months in a year. The university tuition is paid for, there are so many social events and honestly the best course you can find for computer science.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Consider why you want to join, read more into the area you are joining, such as news around the topic.
