Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

if necessary research into unfamiliar software areas (networking or design patterens ect.) using remote or locall machines to complete work in line with the line managers breif which can consist of any part of the software lifecycle.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy it, i can sometimes find myself outside my comfort zone wihch as a software engineer is essential.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

In almost every area of software. I have touched every part of the design lifecycle and the fact that my company changes placements means the work required is changing with it
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well organsied, however some parts of the company can be unaware of the demands of having an apprentice and can overlook them, in addtion the diploma reqruied to do on the side is a massive admin weight that can take away from valueable work time and doesnt add much benefit
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support is revieved, many check ins are implemented to make sure that your needs as an apprentice is being met, my skills coach does a very good job of setting up and carrying out those meetings make sure i have any help if i need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

With regards to university, not much as it is not their role to do that, however i during the work week there is help within the team you work in.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

definatlye, the modules in softare, espically to those new are amazing in getting a structured approach to learning and developing key skills you will need in your job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are stretch activites upon request which will often mean getting infolved in a project that something different to your every day work which is an added responcibitly to network, however I take car of extra-curricular in my personal life with regards to sports teams and social activity.

Why?
they are a good employeer who offeres support and information at every stage of the apprenticeship. Whilst some elements can be more difficult, (the diploma) during your work and diploma and university there is ample help provdided and good teams to go into and develop your skills.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
whilst working in the office may seem less attractive over working from home, try and make the effort to get in as its helpful to be surrounded by your team as you work and if your ever unsure with something with regards to diploma or university reach out to an apprentice as they will all be happy to help.
