Overall Rating

1.1 /5

The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!

2/5 - Overview of Role
1/5 - Skills Development
1.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
I am a cashier, I mostly deal with cash transactions and general enquiries for the bank.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
Almost exclusively role-specific skills. I have cashiered at other places before.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Several issues with communication between every single line manager I have had with Kaplan's management or tutor team. The tutors are lovely but I can never get them to engage with my management or vice-versa. This has led to exam cancellations multiple times.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
At best a day a week in a room on my own. Sometimes I even get a computer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Tutors are nice but I barely see them. This is a kaplan financial issue, not a staff issue.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Not at all.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Yes though mostly it is after work drinks and I can't drink.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
No
Why?
Despite good in-work benefits and above min-wage pay [though not by much!] the hours of commute I have wasted over 2 years and the various health issues that this has caused me as a disabled person have been awful.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
There are other places available. The work benefits are hard to find elsewhere but they do exist. You likely won't progress quickly.
