Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On site, I generally assist engineers with tasks regarding mechanical and electrical work that tenants and clients request. Generally bigger problems can occur, or events regarding building shutdowns, IST days etc.. On these days I get to work on and experience HV electrical systems. Contractors may also be due for a visit and therefore I will generally escort them and ask questions for their works to get a better understanding of the field.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy this apprenticeship because it allows me to earn a steady income at my younger age, allowing me to enjoy myself and build a better savings. It also allows me to be actively learning a skillset I am interested in, through theory based and hands on work. Another plus would also be the friends and networking I have made through this apprenticeship, which has created long lasting friendships and networks that will be able to help my career.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a-lot of overall engineering skills regarding the mechanical and electrical sector. You can learn / be bias in one of the other depending on your overall interest and the site you work on. Personally, I have learn a majority of electrical and mechanical engineering skills due to my mixed experience at college and on site, being able to apply these skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I am currently on block release, which involves a few weeks at college and a few on site. I believe this is a great structure for an apprenticeship, since I get to see my friends every block release and complete my coursework in an organised order since everything is in 1 term. This also allows me to gain and remember knowledge from my college time and apply it easily on site.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

If I have problems on site regarding tasks and jobs, I feel open and free to talk to my engineers, supervisor or manager for assistance and help. I also feel free asking them the reasoning behind certain works to get a better understanding of the job.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I would say I get a fair amount of support, although I would appreciate some guidance on where and how I can achieve certain goals and roles after my apprenticeship and work my way there.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification will ensure that I am properly competent at maintenance work and engineering work regarding on site work. This is because I will e set through 4 years of experience alongside an end test to make sure I am ready.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There aren't many networking or social events regarding the apprentices, and I can only recall 1 happening in late 2023. To my knowledge, I don't believe there are any close future ones, although it would be great if there was.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE Group?
I would advise others to ensure to have an interest within the topic and to be well presented for interviews, ensuring to have goals and ambitions and good grades.
