Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Installing and configuring network equipment. Engaging with stakeholders and delivering on projects committed within financial quarters.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoyed this programme quite well. It had it's fair share of ups and downs but overall, I enjoyed the programme and the colleagues I worked with.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Communication, Professionalism, configuring devices, team building are all new skills I developed. Existing skills that I improved would include communication but also my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Fairly well. I underwent 6-month-long rotations which would take me into different parts of the business. I got to see a variety of teams and experience different types of work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My line manager is really supportive as is the people I work with in my team. This hasn't always been the case but I can say now that I am receiving a lot of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
My training provider, UoS, wasn't the best when supporting my qualifications. There were some standout individuals that were really supportive and helpful but, overall, the support was lacklustre.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Barely. Majority of the modules I undertook in Uni do not apply to what I do in my day-to-day role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are a lot of events that BT are involved in both external and internal. There are also social activities and sports-events that you can get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The salary is good for my age, I have a degree with no debt and, whilst undertaking the degree, there are loads of people that have years of technical knowledge that can help and support you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Be yourself, let others share their ideas and engage in a co-operative discussion.
