Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The role varied throughout the three years, however typically the day would include completing low-level tasks such as pricing, inbox management, and taking notes on calls.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet other apprentices and learn on the job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Microsoft package mainly, soft skills include presenting, stakeholder management, and digital selling.

Structure and Support

3/5
Work and study were balanced fairly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
20% study time and could ask manager for opinions/guidance.

4/5
Felt like I could always reach out for assistance and support from training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I have not rolled off into a sales position, so many skills have become redundant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Rarely

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
No
Why?
There is a general prejudice against apprentices and we are often given low-level tasks that feel more like admin than developing skills, and we were often compared to those on the graduate scheme. The office culture at BT is also uncomfortable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
There is a lot of change happening within the business so be prepared for a lot of moving parts. Engage with colleagues and find a buddy outside of your line manager for general advice and skill development.
