Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Shadowing a site manager and understanding what aspects should be considered when running a site. Undertaking uni work. Site inspections and reporting the findings throughout the week. Meetings with different people in relation to my site.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy seeing the site progress and the different aspects that go into the building side of things. I enjoy being involved with PM's and watching them make decisions as I feel like I could learn from them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned new skills in talking with people and collaborating during work meetings. I have learned to be better organised with a work diary and a lookahead to plan out my weeks/months in advance so I don't forget what's on.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The structure is decent. I feel like having some guidance in place at the start would be useful but having a good leader as a manager helps to keep me on track and I can always rely on them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Most people that are contacted will respond and give you what they can. Personally I've not felt unheard for the most part.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider seems to really on the company for these things without telling them enough of what they need resulting in some info and communication being lost. If help is required there will be something there though.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
As its still early I don't have much for this question although in the future I think it will be a positive thing to hold and to explore different roles and opportunities the degree will help.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a range of things that I've either attended or heard about. There seems to be a few events on every month which is great for networking.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel a sense of pride with the company and feel welcomed by the other workers. Its a great place to start a career and see through.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
Make sure you know exactly what role you are going into and what it involves from the company or the training provider (if applicable). Stay on top of all your work and plan your month ahead
