Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice in my 3rd Year, I now complete Electromagnetic Compatibility testing and verification.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy the full-time placement, however the Level 4 HNC in Engineering is dissatisfactory. Daily tasks and activities are supported well by my Line Manager and Department.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed interpersonal skills and professional relationships, applied frequency mathematics, the differences and importance of various test standards and procedures, and how to conduct various test methods for conducted/radiated emissions/susceptibility.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Document release, for example the End Point Assessment documents were released in a contradictory order. However support has been good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A great amount within my department, and good support from Human Resources. The Early Careers Skills Coach has been supportive and proficient.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Regarding off-site training, minimal support is offered. Answers to questions are difficult to understand or they do not provide sufficient information.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Certain areas have benefitted for my role, however most subjects covered are irrelevant to my tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Multiple activities are available, however I do not involve myself with them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Aside from off-site training providers, BAE offer a wide range of activities, skills and experiences that enrich transferrable and interpersonal skills. Support is effective from most departments and career aspirations are offered well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be open to offers and flexibility; the company is best experienced from rotating between functions and departments as there is such a wide range of opportunities and capabilities available.
