Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it very much, the variety keeps things interesting and we are supported throughout the program. There are times it gets difficult but we are never left without support.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Developed excel and IT skills, but everything I learned about audit and accounting is new to me. Also improved communication with clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
We have had a clear structure from the start, including exam dates, training and study dates and a calendar showing us from months in advance what jobs/teams we will be working on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Support is always available when I need it, either from my line manager, colleagues, fellow juniors or my team for the particular engagement I am working on. We have some external support too from our tuition providers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Our study allowances are clear from the start but I know we have the option to defer exams or retake them if we are struggling. Our employer is very on top of our progress towards the qualification in terms of what tasks we still need to complete and our successes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
very much so, I wouldn't be able to do my job without the qualification after all.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many socials organised by other staff members, not just the social/support staff but anyone is able to start a club.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Forvis Mazars to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I found the environment to be very inclusive and supportive, and there is a huge emphasis on facilitating each other's learning. For a large firm it is rather relaxed and everyone is very approachable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
Mazars values people, not just qualifications. I would recommend thinking about how activities you take part in and achievements you have might have transferable skills to working not just in audit/accounting specifically, but as a team and with clients. Soft skills really go a long way, show yourself off!
