Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I work in office most days making payments or writing site instructions, managing subcontracts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the college blocks at Leeds college of building and day to day office work is okay

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Excel skills and developed in my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel like it is well organized, but not communicated well to us as apprentices. There is a clear structure that works, but we are not experienced with it
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My project specific team is very helpful with my development, however the early careers team are not good at communicating with us
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Leeds college of building is a very good training provider. They are professional but keep lectures enjoyable and are all good teachers. They frequently check in with us to make sure we are on track - this is something I believe the BAM early careers team could improve by doing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It has helped but is not specific to my day role. We are taking part in a QS apprenticeship for Construction, rather than civil engineering, so while it is applicable we are not gaining exposure for our day to day role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
They do a lot of networking things and webinars, it mostly depends on what project you are on. I'm not aware of any sports teams or many social activities that are purely for enjoyment rather than to network or promote the company

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would say that its a good company to work for to get your degree apprenticeship. I am very grateful to have my training paid for among all the other perks we get. I believe that there are companies that could provide a better experience but on the whole BAM is good enough to reccomment.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
If you can get any kind of work experience in the field you will look like a good candidate. It also always helps to know people in the business if you are applying - having someone recommend you is very beneficial.
