Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day-to-day basis I will spend time planning and carrying out my own experiments and I will attend a variety of meetings. In addition to this I will also complete more administrative tasks such as sending/replying to emails.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my job, the opportunity to learn practically the techniques that fascinated me in a modern laboratory is a huge opportunity. My studying provides me the ability to earn a qualification whilst getting to work, although this can be challenging.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned numerous new skills. Not just laboratory practices like cell culture, but also skills outside the lab. I've learned how to network and how to work as an employee of a company. I have also developed my presenting skills, essay writing and using excel.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My university program has a very clear structure which makes understanding deadlines very simple.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer in the form of my manager, manger + 1 and other members of my team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I do receive support from my training provider for my study. However, remote learning can mean that a greater level of independence is required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification has sometimes helped my understanding about topics and techniques which I use as a part of my role, but generally doesn't directly link to my work. But it does help make me a better scientist by providing me with a broader understanding of biology.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is the apprentice social society which organise events for apprentices to get together both inside and outside of work. Also, on occasion there are networking events. There are also other groups that organise events which I have access to.
