Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The general management and preparation of accounts on several clients, mainly focusing around the posting of invoices and running the reports that follow such as reconciling the banks and creating the payments on the accounting software AIQ. The week is ended with the sending of remittances to clients to show that they have been paid
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The social aspect of the program is definitely a benefit, as you join with several people who you work alongside and can relate to due to a similar experience level. Continually improving at and learning processes can also be enjoyable as it serves as clear proof as your improvement and makes the work feel more rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The most obvious skill I have learnt is the ability to use accounting software and gain an understanding of accounting terminology and processes. The more subtle yet valuable skills I have learned include the ability to speak professionally, better adapt to new systems and work while managing multiple tasks, leading to greater organisation overall to apply to my life outside of PwC.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I believe that it is well structured, with each joiner being paired with an associate to shadow at the beginning, allowing them to learn from them then gradually shift away from their support at their own pace, this allows for the trainee to gain necessary skills while still being supported through training.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot of support is offered, in my experience any areas in which you are struggling you are offered support in, with solutions being provided for any issues which you may have with a process or task in the form of additional training or extra process notes to help consolidate knowledge.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The first week my group was given book keeping training before being put on any clients, this both made the job easier to learn but also gave us a baseline understanding of our course before starting. additional help such as study leave and the ability to speak to people who have done the course before us for advice are helpful tools.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The learning of terminology and the theory of processes we practically use can aid in the understanding of our role, and can give us the ability to problem solve better with the additional context provided by the training. The training also gives us a wider understanding of accounting outside of our specialised role, allowing us to to be more versatile when taking on other work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have personally been to multiple social nights with my team all of which I have enjoyed, they also offer activities such as yoga, running events and many other miscellaneous activities. This variety of tasks appeals to a wide range of interests, allowing most people to find something suited to them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Not only is the social aspect of PwC enjoyable, the Carrere progression offered without the weight of student debt is hard to beat through any other programs, with a competitive salary and benefits to match this progression. The addition of PwC on your resume is also a very value asset, as it automatically shows employers an ability to complete high quality work within defined timeframes, which is a sought after skill.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Learn the PwC values to ensure that you are suited to the culture, then attend events offered to potential applicants which will give you greater insight into the role and allow you to ask questions to employees who have experienced the work and culture or PwC based on things you personally care about surrounding the role.
