Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I prepare corporation tax computations for a wide variety of clients. This involves requesting information from clients, analysing expenses and income, and communicating with other internal teams. I spend most of my time working with excel and our tax software, I also spend time collaborating with other team members and emailing clients and other departments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy learning about tax and getting better at doing my job. I have started to take on more responsibility with some advanced projects and advisory work which I find very interesting. I really enjoy working in the team, everyone gets along well and people very freely offer their time for training or support.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have massively developed my communication skills as I have needed to talk to internal team members of varying levels up to Partners, clients who each have different preferences, and HMRC where any communication needs to be very structured.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured. We have a manager in the office who looks after all of the apprentices. They timetable and book all of our study courses and attend our quarterly apprenticeship meetings with our training provider. They are a first point of contact and can answer any question we have about the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive a lot of support, we are given time during our work hours to complete apprenticeship requirements. A dedicated apprenticeship manager is always available to answer questions and discuss your training plan.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Very good support from the training provider. We get binders of condensed notes, tuition and revision courses, typically each is 4-6 days long. We have access to online videos and interactive tests. The tutor for each course is also available via email for any questions between our courses and exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Depending on the qualification chosen, I think it does generally support the role. Some sections are less relevant than others but everything helps to build a foundation to work from.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes we have a social committee who host regular events. We have inter-office sports events, networking events, games nights and quizzes. We also often go out on a Friday evening after work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Crowe UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
As mentioned before they support you well during the apprenticeship/qualification and they promote a good work life balance.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Crowe UK?
Do some research on the company beforehand doesn't need to be a lot just a little about the offices, work streams, and size. Practice online video interviews, they can be tricky. As a graduate or school leaver your technical competence plays a much smaller part of the process as there is no expectation for you to have experience. Therefore the interviews primarily assess your interpersonal skills, working with others and general communication. If you have a group assessment, let people know your thoughts but dont talk over others, not everyone has to be a loud leader, working in a team effectively is just as important.
