The role holder will contribute to the Chemical Development department in PT&D by applying their technical expertise to specific aspects of the following:
• Designing commercially viable drug substance synthetic routes and manufacturing methods.
• Technology Transfer of drug substance manufacturing processes.
• Identifying Drug Substance process improvement opportunities for marketed products.
• Exploitation of cutting edge technologies.
• Provision of Chemical Development expertise in the delivery of Technical Stewardship.
• Collaboratively helping to design, develop and implement best practice in chemical development.

I really enjoyed the programme as it helped my become more confident with interacting with multiple people and step out my comfort zone.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I experienced two different departments: Quality Control and Chemical development. This helped to expand my skills in multiple areas. Such as managing my own work to achieve drug and non-drug project targets in a timely fashion. Contributing to internal and external project work and other improvement activities and prepare documentation and formal reports in accordance with current standards, including GMP where appropriate.

AstraZeneca try to organise it as much as they can but there can be issues with the training provider you are with such as miscommunications.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

From management in AstraZeneca, I receive a lot of support for my development and for me to excel in my job role.

Not much, it is not the best.
