Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the intercompany team for a large global company, therefore i predominately deal with cummins to cummins transactions amongst our many different sites and entities. This involves Bank Reconciliations, Month end reconciliations, email queries, operational reporting tasks alongside providing daily support to our sites and customers
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme a lot, i have learnt a lot of invaluable skills throughout my time as an apprentice. It has given me a very good insight into a financial role within a large global company and i feel the work has never become mundane or boring.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a lot of skills i've gained throughout life, regarding working within a team, working towards deadlines and working under pressure. However i have also massively gained IT skills such as excel literacy and using different accounting software's that i previously have never seen.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme itself is highly organised and you can tell the company put a lot of time and effort into their apprentices. I have had support all the way through and apprentice based groups have ran through the full time i have been here.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I'd say i get a lot of support from my employer, we have monthly one to one meetings in order to discuss progress and outline future goals. there has been a few instances where i have felt they could be a bit overbearing onto my studies but i appreciate they are putting money into this so want to see success.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I feel the training provider is very lack luster, we don't receive a lot of support or communication outside of the day we are in the college itself. i have had issues with exam scheduling before due to a lack of communication from my provider before which pushed back my qualifications progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My qualifications have given my very good insight into the work i do in my role. it has given me the supporting knowledge to understand why i do what i do. However i would say my role is slightly different as i only deal with internal customers, therefore learning regarding certain topics (e.g external customers or government tax returns) are something ive never experienced at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
The offices have gyms and showers which you can use. they put on EEEC which is 4 hours a year of going out and working with local community partners. there doesnt seem to be any social clubs (or at least im not aware of) but employees will often organise things themselves instead.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I can tell they have put a lot of effort into their apprentice program over the years and it is evident through the support and help ive received during my time here. The job feels rewarding and i deal with people from across the world which is interesting and an opportunity i may not have had in another company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
With cummins being such a large global company (around 90,000 employees!), please do some research into them before applying. they are primarily an engine manufacturer created in america and have got this size through years of hard work and success. Showing an interviewer you have taken the time to actually research and look into cummins is a great step to show your interest !
